Our Story
Asam Tree was established in 2013.
Founded by a local couple who grew up cherishing Nasi Padang as a special treat, Asam Tree was born from a simple dream: to make delicious, quality Malay cuisine accessible and affordable.
From the beginning, Asam Tree made their own chilli rempah for their dishes, staying true to traditional recipes while perfecting each one through many rounds of refinement. Our dishes are crafted with an understanding of Heartlanders’ tastebuds!
Thanks to the support of our long time heartland customers, Asam Tree has grown into a trusted name among Nasi Padang lovers. Our signature Sambal, flavourful Mutton Rendang, and fragrant Ayam Masak Merah are some favourites among our regulars.

Our Identity
Our logo represents who we are and what we stand for.
The logo is inspired by the tamarind tree (Asam Tree) — a humble yet deeply rooted tree whose fruit adds a naturally tangy, refreshing depth to Malay and Southeast Asian cooking. Asam means “sour” in Malay, a flavour that brings balance, character, and warmth to a dish. The Asam Tree symbolises our belief in the spirit of Nasi Padang — natural, rich flavours prepared with care and shared in the warmth of communal dining.
The circle represents unity, where everyone is welcome to share a meal together.
